Strategic Planning Position
We are seeking an experienced Senior Strategic Planner to join our team and contribute to the delivery of precinct structure planning in emerging growth areas.
The role involves working across various teams, including sustainability, transport, drainage, community infrastructure, amendments, and statutory planning. You will lead the precinct structure planning process, incorporating natural environment inputs, and delivering new communities.
Your key responsibilities will include:
* Contribute to diverse strategic planning activities supporting solution development and implementation aligned with departmental strategies and objectives.
* Provide subject matter expertise and strategic advice to department leaders and stakeholders, ensuring informed decision-making and alignment with broader goals.
* Lead preparation, coordination, and implementation of strategic plans, policies, guidelines, and planning initiatives.
* Manage contracts with external consultants, ensuring deliverables, timelines, and budgets are met while maintaining high-quality outcomes.
* Represent the department through presentations to council, staff, community groups, and other stakeholders as required.
About You
To be successful in this role, you will have relevant qualifications in town planning, environmental planning, or related fields, or significant professional experience in strategic and statutory planning, project management in a comparable organization.
Essential Experience
* Knowledge of relevant legislation, policies, and practices related to strategic and statutory planning.
* Project management experience, including engagement and management of consultants and contractors, and keeping project delivery on schedule.
* Professional experience in projects or programs enabling delivery of new communities in greenfield and/or urban renewal contexts.
* Planning scheme amendment process experience is desirable.
