The Opportunity
Reporting to the Plant Manager, the Engineering Manager is responsible for leading the site Maintenance and Process Engineering teams at our Somerton rPET facility.
This is a hands-on leadership role managing a team of 3 direct reports and 5 indirect reports, including a Maintenance Lead, Process Engineer and shift-based trades across a 24/5 operation.
You will be responsible for setting direction for the engineering function, ensuring strong alignment with site priorities, and building capability across the team to support long-term asset performance and operational stability.
Key Responsibilities
1. Deliver effective maintenance and engineering execution across a 24/5 operation
2. Develop and embed preventative maintenance and asset care frameworks
3. Manage engineering budgets, spares and maintenance cost control
4. Partner with Production to support operational reliability and asset performance outcomes
5. Lead root cause analysis and implement sustainable corrective actions
6. Drive continuous improvement initiatives across engineering processes and systems
7. Develop team capability through coaching, mentoring and technical support
8. Maintain and improve site standards including SOPs, 5S, visual management and reporting systems

9. Proven engineering leadership experience in manufacturing
10. Strong background in maintenance, asset care and reliability
11. Experience driving continuous improvement and RCA
12. Commercial mindset with budget and cost management experience
13. Strong leadership, coaching and stakeholder engagement skills
14. Relevant engineering qualification or trade background
