About the Role
This permanent, full-time position will support the implementation and management of health safety and environmental (HSE) accountabilities across the works and services of South East QLD Utilities Maintenance Contract.
* The role involves partnering with delivery teams to ensure a safe workplace and compliance with HSE requirements, modelling organisational safety values and expected behaviours, and providing leadership and support to consultation, communication, and collaboration processes.
* This hands-on role is focused on improving the ability of operational leaders and their teams to meet safety expectations, manage risk, and deliver safe outcomes through effective HSE practices.
Responsibilities
* Provide expert advice and guidance to delivery teams on HSE matters, ensuring a safe working environment and compliance with organisational HSE standards.
* Lead by example, demonstrating strong leadership skills and modelling desired safety behaviours, always adhering to company HSE policies and procedures.
* Conduct regular site visits and inspections to verify HSE controls and processes, identifying areas for improvement and implementing corrective actions as necessary.
* Implement and align project-specific HSE documentation, materials, and resources with the organisation's overall HSE framework, managing risks and controls effectively.
* Investigate incidents and near misses, identifying learning opportunities and implementing corrective actions to prevent reoccurrence.
* Support injury management and return-to-work processes, promoting a culture of safety and wellbeing within the organisation.
About You
To be successful in this role, you will require:
* Experience in a similar HSE leadership position within infrastructure maintenance, construction, civil works, or mining industries.
* A thorough understanding of relevant legislation, standards, codes of practice, and ISO Standards 45001, 14001, 9001; and accreditation requirements.
* Strong communication and interpersonal skills, including proficient use of Microsoft applications.
* A relevant qualification in WHS/Environment, along with a valid current Australian Full Driver's Licence and Return-to-Work training.
