Company: Healthcare Australia (HCA) is a major provider of healthcare services across Australia, including allied health, primary care, recruitment, NDIS, care services, and training. In December 2024, HCA began providing health, mental health, and wellbeing services across the onshore Immigration Detention network. Our team offers a range of healthcare services including health assessments, chronic disease management, health promotion, wound management, immunizations, and other primary health interventions. HCA launched a 24/7 Virtual Care Centre (VCC) providing remote healthcare through telehealth and video consultations to enhance onsite care for detainees.
Role and responsibilities
* The General Practitioner leads and manages the delivery of primary healthcare services to immigration detainees within detention centres.
* Provide clinical supervision and act as the primary escalation point for health staff working within the immigration detention centre.
* Provide preventative health checks, immunisations, and health promotion.
* Manage acute presentations and chronic diseases; attend to day-to-day medical concerns.
* Support patients with acute and chronic mental health issues alongside our specialised mental health team.
* Adapt to changing needs of the immigration field, ensuring flexibility in care approach.
Work arrangement
This is a permanent part-time, on-site position (3 days per week – Wednesday to Friday), with potential for a hybrid work arrangement in the future.
Qualifications
* Medical degree (MBBS or equivalent).
* Full registration with the Medical Board (without restrictions).
* Fellowship of the Royal Australian College of General Practitioners (RACGP) or equivalent; continuous Fellowship required (FRACGP/FACRRM/FARGP or similar).
