Maintenance Operator Trainee – Parks
Full Time 24 Month Traineeship
The Town is seeking an enthusiastic and motivated individual tojoin the Parks team as a Maintenance Operator Trainee– Parks. This is an entry-level, hands-onopportunity to learn practical skills in parks and horticulturewhile completing a nationally recognised qualification.
This is an excellent opportunity for school leavers,career changers, or anyone looking to start a career in parks andgardens while gaining practical experience and a nationallyrecognised qualification.
Your new role
Reporting to the Streetscape Supervisor, you will support theteam in maintaining over 100 hectares of public open space,including active reserves, streetscapes, gardens, facilitysurrounds, and bush reserves.
As a trainee, you will receive on-the-job training, guidance,and mentoring to develop your skills in horticulture, turfmanagement, and general parks maintenance.
What you'll need to succeed
- A positive attitude, willingness to learn, and interest inoutdoor work
- Ability to follow instructions and work safely as part of ateam
- Basic knowledge or interest in horticulture, turf care,gardening, or environmental works
- Basic computer literacy and willingness to learn newsystems
- Current C class driver's licence (MR licencedesirable but not essential for commencement of position). Willbe required while in the role (successful candidate must bewilling to obtain this).
- Must hold a Construction Induction Card (White Card)
- Any prior exposure to tractor driving, mowing, orhorticultural tools is beneficial, but not required
