About the Role
The Field Area Manager will oversee operations in QLD, providing optimum production and cost outcomes through the management of direct labour and subcontractors in a healthy and safe work environment.
Responsibilities include conducting construction walk-outs, planning, scoping, and activities to ensure site works can be constructed efficiently according to plans and schedules. The successful candidate will engage with and brief subcontractors on their scope of work, escalating issues as needed. They will also provide leadership and direction to internal and subcontractor teams to deliver the program, analyze tasks, and allocate resources in collaboration with project engineers and managers. Additionally, they will address resource requirements and shortages promptly, liaise with Site Engineers to ensure materials and equipment are available, escalate deficiencies, report daily site activities, progress, and variations, ensure compliance with Work Instructions, Method of Procedures, and plans, develop and maintain strong stakeholder relationships, and promote safety practices, implementing policies and legislative requirements.
Requirements
To be successful, your experience should include at least 5 years in a similar role, preferably in a civil construction background with knowledge of directional drills, open trenching, fibre installation, and subcontractor management experience. You should also have an understanding of Telstra Copper and Optical Fibre Networks, experience with bore, trench, and plough techniques, ability to read Telstra DBORs, diagrams, and plans, knowledge of Telstra Traffic Management and DBYD plans, and strong computer skills. Furthermore, you should be willing to travel to remote areas and be available to work on a roster.
