This position based at Campbelltown Hospital represents an exciting opportunity to be part of the Leadership Team in an expanding and dynamic Social Work Department with a strong commitment to social justice and equitable access to healthcare for the people of Macarthur and surrounds.
What You'll Be Doing
This position is responsible for providing professional leadership and team management to Social Work staff located within the Acute Adults and Geriatrics Team of Campbelltown & Camden Hospitals. The position will lead and oversee the provision of a Social Work service to consumers and their carers in the area of Acute Adults and Geriatrics and ensure the provision of optimal health outcomes that are consistent with SWSLHD policies and procedures, standards, relevant legislation, and the NSW Health Code of Conduct. The position is expected to provide leadership in quality activities, manage specific projects, and assist in human resource management and other relevant departmental administrative duties.
Where You'll Be Working
Campbelltown and Camden Hospitals, part of the South Western Sydney Local Health District, work together to provide comprehensive healthcare services to the Macarthur region. Campbelltown Hospital is a leading tertiary facility, offering a wide range of services including cardiology, maternity, palliative care, respiratory medicine, emergency medicine, and aged‑care services. It also features specialised Mental Health and Cancer facilities. Camden Hospital complements these services by specialising in care for older persons with acute or chronic health conditions, including rehabilitation, palliative care, geriatric evaluation and management, and psychogeriatric care. The hospitals share a close‑knit, community‑focused team dedicated to delivering safe, quality, and compassionate care. The ongoing multi‑million dollar redevelopment at Campbelltown Hospital will further enhance its capabilities, introducing advanced equipment and amenities.

Requirements
- A Social Work degree which provides eligibility for the Australian Association of Social Workers (AASW).
- Extensive postgraduate experience working as a Social Worker in relevant clinical areas, including a demonstrated understanding of the health setting, complex health conditions and the impact on wellbeing.
- Demonstrated experience in prioritising a challenging and demanding workload; managing stressful situations; and applying advanced reasoning skills and independent professional judgement when dealing with situations of a novel or critical nature.
- Demonstrated experience in providing guidance, leadership and management of a social work team. Demonstrated experience providing clinical supervision to staff and students.
- Demonstrated experience in the planning, implementation, leading and evaluation of quality improvement activities involving the application of evidence‑based practice within social work.
- Applicants must possess an Australian C‑Class driver's licence (including P1 or P2). Those who hold a C class licence (P1 or P2 included) from a state other than NSW must obtain a NSW C class (P1 or P2 included) licence within three months of appointment. Learner's licences are not permitted.
