Role Description
We are partnering with Griffith English Language Institute (GELI) to recruit English language teachers for an exciting international teaching opportunity with Jiangxi University of Finance and Economics (JUFE), located in Nanchang, Jiangxi Province, China.
This role is ideal for teachers who are looking to build their international profile, gain valuable cross-cultural teaching experience and take on a professionally and personally rewarding role overseas.
About the opportunity
Successful candidates will first undertake a 5-week paid teaching placement at GELI in Australia before departing for China in September. This provides a structured transition into the role and helps ensure teachers are well prepared before commencing at JUFE.
Role details
* Location: Nanchang, Jiangxi Province, China
* Teaching load: 20 teaching hours per week
* Class duration: 45 minutes each
* Additional duties: approximately 8 hours per week for lesson planning, marking and extracurricular activities
* Contract length: 10 months across 2 teaching semesters
* Probation period: 1 month
Salary and benefits
* AUD $50,000 salary after tax (AUD$5,000 per month)
* AUD $10,000 completion bonus
* Paid monthly into an Australian or Chinese bank account
* Furnished 1-bedroom on-campus apartment
* One return flight per contract
* Working visa reimbursement
* Basic health insurance for the contract period
* Medical check on arrival reimbursed
* Up to 10 days unpaid personal leave per year
* Public holidays include major Chinese national holidays such as Labour Day, Dragon Boat Festival, Mid-Autumn Festival, National Day and New Year's Day
Requirements
We are looking for candidates who are:
* Bachelor's degree or higher (Education/English/Business etc.)
* Teaching certification (TEFL/TESOL/CELTA or equivalent preferred)
* Classroom teaching experience (preferred)
* willing and able to commence in Australia at GELI starting 29th Jun 2026 for 5 weeks prior to departure
* available to relocate to China and starting either 31st Aug or 7th Sep 2026
* adaptable, professional and culturally aware
* strong communicators with a genuine interest in teaching and international experience
* able to obtain a full Australian Federal Police check
Important information
* Utilities are to be paid by the teacher
* Meals are not provided
* Teachers are required to obtain and pay for personal accident insurance to cover the first 30 days after arrival
