Business Development Manager (BDM)
who can drive growth, open new verticals, and own results with full autonomy.
The Role
You'll be responsible for
accelerating revenue growth and market adoption
in Australia and supporting our global expansion strategy. This role is hands-on — ideal for someone who's
results-driven, proactive, and thrives in autonomy
.
You'll work directly with the founders, product, and data science teams to:
* Scale our
farm-level forecasting platform
(Farm AI Forecasts).
* Expand our
Market AI
solution into new verticals (banks, insurers, processors).
* Build early customer traction in
Europe and North America
through pilots, events, and partnerships.
What You'll Do:
1. Grow the Farmer Product (Australia)
* Drive adoption of our AI-powered forecasting tool with growers, agronomists, and co-ops.
* Run demos, workshops, and field events to showcase impact.
* Build referral networks with agronomy groups, input suppliers, and ag advisors.
2. Expand into New Segments
* Identify and win clients in
financial services
, using our forecasts for lending, insurance, and risk management.
* Explore opportunities with
grain handlers, processors, and input/fertiliser companies
.
* Build tailored proposals and pilot projects per customer type.
3. Support Global Growth
* Research and prioritise entry opportunities in
Europe and North America
.
* Build partnerships with brokers, traders, and farmer associations.
* Represent Octopusbot at major events (e.g., Global Grain Geneva, GrainCom).
4. Partnerships & Market Intelligence
* Negotiate reseller/distribution agreements (agtech platforms, consulting firms).
* Track industry trends and provide insights to the product team.
* Manage a multi-segment pipeline and deliver on quarterly targets.
What We're Looking For
4–6+ years in
business development or partnerships
, ideally in agriculture, agtech, or financial services.
Proven track record of
delivering results
— hitting or exceeding sales targets.
Strong understanding of industry value chains and decision-makers.
Excellent communication and presentation skills (farm to boardroom).
Comfortable working
autonomously
in a fast-paced start-up.
Experience with international markets (EU or North America) a plus.
Background in agriculture, agronomy, or ag-finance highly valued.
