The Opportunity
We are looking for a highly skilled Support Software Engineer to join our dynamic team in Brisbane office. In this role, you will be the go-to technical expert for troubleshooting and resolving issues across our complex software ecosystem. Your responsibilities will span from triaging support tickets and queries to conducting technical investigations including:
You will work across multiple domains, including:
* Work across multiple domains of software development using Java, C++, Python and TypeScript and operating systems such as Linux.
* Maintain cloud infrastructure and CI/CD pipelines, working with modern networking protocols and APIs (AWS, CDK, GitHub Actions).
* Use configuration and scripting languages to automate and optimize systems (JSON, XML, Bash, Python).
* Diagnose issues and implement solutions in updating code, adjusting infrastructure, improving documentation, or refining automation scripts.
* Work closely with engineers and stakeholders to ensure system reliability and client satisfaction.
About You
To thrive in this role, you will need:
* Strong programming skills in at least two languages (e.g., Java, C++, Python, TypeScript).
* Familiarity with infrastructure-as-code (AWS CDK), GitHub Actions and DevOps practices.
* A problem solver who enjoys tackling complex puzzles and digging deep into technical challenges.
* Excellent communication skills to explain technical concepts clearly and collaborate effectively with team members and stakeholders.
* Ability to work autonomously as well as collaboratively as part of a team in a multi-disciplinary environment.
* Comfortable with making small but impactful changes across codebases, infrastructure, documentation and automation scripts
Extra things we value:
* Experience with debugging distributed systems and performance optimization.
* Knowledge of APIs, networking protocols and secure communication practices.
* Familiarity with agile workflows and modern software development practices.
* Domain-specific experience in Geo-data workflows.

This role forms part of our R&D team, part of our innovation department with a strong focus on automating complex spatial data analysis workflows and providing information to clients via intuitive web-based interfaces. Real world data (LIDAR point clouds, imagery, sonar scan and multi-beam) is captured remotely by vessels, autonomous underwater vehicles, aircrafts or helicopters. Data is uploaded to AWS and distilled to provide clients insights via the use of modern machine learning, scalable cloud computing, and 3D visualisation approaches.
