About the Role
As a Production Horticulturist, you will report to the directors and be responsible for supervising workers and planting, growing, and harvesting activities.
Summary
Manage on-farm production processes, ensuring quality, safety, and efficiency of operations.
Responsibilities
* Ensure all land preparations follow Sunripe procedures.
* Train and monitor operators to perform tasks per standard procedures.
* Lead by example, providing guidance and leadership to workers.
* Supervise and prepare work routines for day-to-day production operations.
* Assess work quality and take corrective actions when needed.
* Ensure adequate material inputs for operations.
* Perform minor maintenance on farming equipment and machinery.
* Assist with general farm work when required.
* Liaise with Farm Operation Manager and Directors as necessary.
* Oversee and operate the irrigation system.
* Prepare and apply chemicals to control pests, weeds, and diseases.
* Operate spreading and seeding equipment.
* Identify and report unusual disease or plant pest signs.
* Coordinate horticultural crop harvesting.
Qualifications
* Three years of employment experience as a Production Horticulturist with relevant formal training (e.g., Australian Certificate III or Certificate IV), or five years of experience with no formal qualification.
* Proactive and self-motivated.
* Queensland Open Driver Licence.
* Ability to demonstrate proper use of equipment.
* Ability to follow directions and work unsupervised.Basic understanding and knowledge of WHS and ability to apply knowledge.
* Contribute to developing safe work procedures.
* Identify and report any hazards or incidents.

* Proficient in on-farm production management, including irrigation, pesticide use, and harvesting.
* Experience leading a team and training staff.

* Good communication and liaison skills with management.
* Able to maintain equipment and execute minor maintenance.
