Overview
Be responsible for supporting new and existing Motor products, identifying improvement opportunities, and assisting with product and underwriting changes. The Motor Product Analyst role reports to the Motor Product Manager and is responsible for supporting the identification, design, development and implementation of new and innovative Motor products, options and benefits.
Responsibilities
- Provide support in the monitoring and analysis of Australian and overseas insurance markets and trends
- Assist in the identification of opportunities for profitable growth in the Australian Motor insurance market
- Assist in the identification of recommendations for improvements to existing products and development of new products and/or options to enhance the value proposition for customers, selling Partners and more generally A&G; as a whole
- Support in the design and development of approved new and innovative Motor products, options and benefits, as well as enhancements to the existing product suite
- Provide support in the monitoring and reporting on the progress of projects and the performance of new products, including taking corrective actions where necessary and assisting with post-implementation reviews
- Assist with the setup, launch and online management of White Label Partner products
- Implement process improvement and/or system enhancement
- Perform user acceptance testing
- Monitor and interpret insurance portfolio data
- Compile reports and analyse trends in the Motor insurance portfolio and support continuous improvements in data quality and presentation of results
- Competitor research and analysis
- Engage stakeholders to drive measurable commercial outcomes for the business
Qualifications and Experience
Essential
- 2+ years General Insurance (short tail) product/ portfolio management, underwriting and/or claim experience; exposure to product development and portfolio management specific to the Domestic Motor insurance space would be highly regarded
- Sound knowledge/ understanding of short-tail insurance product(s), underwriting and rating methods, systems and procedures – including drivers and levers of profitable growth
- Knowledge of relevant regulatory regimes, compliance and insurance legislation
- Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal
- Good problem-solving ability
- Sound numerical and analytical skills
- Ability to communicate effectively across all levels of the organisation
- Attention to detail and accuracy
- A “can do”, team-focused attitude
- Ability to work autonomously while maintaining focus
- Experience in managing and completing user acceptance testing
- IT literacy and the ability to learn new systems
- Working knowledge of common application software, e.g. MS Office suite; experience with SQL/ SAS would be a bonus
- Ability to respond rapidly and positively to change and to work under pressure to deliver outcomes with competing priorities
