About the role
We have an exciting opportunity for an Accountant to join our Corporate Accounting team up until September 2026. In this hands-on, fast paced role, you will support the Head of Finance, Corporate Accounting in the delivery of accurate financial reporting to the QIC Board and external stakeholders. This role involves maintaining and controlling accounting records for QIC Australian subsidiaries and associates, assisting in the preparation of annual financial statements, and other statutory and management reports. Additionally, this role includes reviewing and controlling corporate payments and receipting processes, maintaining taxation records, preparing returns, identifying process improvements, and liaising with business areas.
Key responsibilities:
- Maintain and review accounting policies and the General Ledger.
- Prepare journals, reconciliations, and analyse income and expense accounts.
- Assist in the annual preparation of financial statements and liaise with external auditors.
- Prepare and calculate relevant tax lodgements, work-papers, and returns.
- Review bank reconciliations, accounts payable, and receivable.
- Ensure compliance with financial policies and identify areas for process improvement.
About you
You will be someone who actively engages with the business, with a passion for bringing numbers to life. Ideally you will have a continuous improvement mindset with the ability to adapt and understand activities at the enterprise and process level, bringing alignment to best practice and will likely meet the following criteria:
- Degree in Accounting/Finance, Business, Commerce, or equivalent.
- Completing or completed CA or CPA qualification.
- Minimum 3 years experience as an Accountant.
- High standard of accuracy and attention to detail.
- Intermediate Microsoft Excel skills.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
