The Opportunity
Temp role - Sunshine Coast
We are seeking a Rates Administration Officer to join a high-performing Financial Operations team. Reporting to the Team Leader Rates, this role is responsible for maintaining accurate rate records and administering property-related charges, including rates and other charge types.
This is an Award-based Level 2 position under the Queensland Local Government Industry Award (Stream A) – State 2017.
Key Responsibilities
* Undertake rate levy maintenance, transfers and charge processing, including rate charge journals
* Apply relevant legislation, revenue policies and procedures to property records
* Review financial transactions, calculate manual adjustments and check rebates
* Respond to internal and external customer queries verbally and in writing
* Complete integrity reviews of the rating database and generate reports
* Support specialised functions including pensioner concessions, rates valuations, differential rating and refunds
* Contribute to process improvements and system testing to maintain database integrity
* Participate in safe work practices and contribute to a positive team culture
About You:
* Certificate III in Business Administration (or equivalent relevant experience)
* Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with excellent attention to detail
* Demonstrated communication and customer service skills across phone, email and written correspondence
* Strong time management skills with the ability to work independently
* Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and the ability to learn new systems
* A positive, flexible team-oriented attitude
Desirable:
* Experience in local government rating or a related finance area
* Current C Class Driver’s Licence
