Primary objective
Provide expert advice on data activities within Northern Territory (NT) Police Force, including the management of complex
and disparate data sources and data remediation activities.
Context statement
NT Police Force require a contemporary reporting solution that combines data from disparate data sources. Central to this
is the remediation of a number of data quality issues that have been identified through the implementation of SerPro. This
role is to lead the body of work required to identify data anomalies, devise, and document and implement technical solutions
that will improve the validity and consistency of the data sets, and work with stakeholders to develop a long-term data
management solution. This role is primarily a technical role with some business intelligence reporting also required.
Key duties and responsibilities
1. Provide data analysis and insight across complex operational and reporting datasets.
2. Analyse and document solutions to address various reporting/data anomalies across various datasets.
3. Develop complex semantic layers using a variety of data sources and provide guidance and support to the reporting
team as required regarding data sources, data validity and best practice reporting solutions.
Selection criteria
Essential
1. Expert knowledge of and extensive experience in the use of various data analytic toolsets, including business intelligence
applications or similar, including extensive and demonstrated experience in the design, development and testing of
semantic layers.
1. Expert knowledge of programming languages used in database environments, such as SQL, TSQL, DAX, PowerQuery or
similar, with ability to write complex queries and code to interrogate and analyse datasets and extract data.
1. Extensive demonstrated knowledge of in database modelling concepts and techniques.
2. Extensive experience in business intelligence reporting using the Microsoft BI stack (PowerBI, xSSAS, SSIS etc).
3. Experience in contemporary data warehousing tools, methodology and practices.
4. Demonstrated ability to work under pressure, to prioritise commitments and to meet critical deadlines.
5. Highly developed interpersonal, oral and written communications skills and demonstrated experience in presenting
complex data and information to a variety of audiences.
8. An ability to interact effectively with people from diverse cultures and commitment to supporting equity and diversity
in the workplace.
Desirable
1. Tertiary qualifications in a relevant technical field e.g. Computer Science, Data Analytics, Statistics, or other related
fields.
2. Experience within a regulatory environment.
