Civil Engineering Technician – NDIS Home Modifications

Kalon Meraki is a registered NDIS provider delivering high-quality disability supports across Western Australia. As part of our growing services, we are expanding our NDIS Home Modifications and Accessible Housing division and are seeking a Civil Engineering Technician to support the design and delivery of safe, accessible home environments for people with disability.
This role will assist with the technical planning, drawing, and site coordination of home modification projects that improve independence, accessibility, and quality of life for NDIS participants.
About the Role
The Civil Engineering Technician will work alongside occupational therapists, builders, support coordinators, and project stakeholders to support the development and implementation of NDIS home modification projects.
The role involves technical drawings, site assessments, accessibility design considerations, and construction support for projects such as ramps, access pathways, bathroom modifications, structural adjustments, and accessible home adaptations.
Key Responsibilities
* Conduct site measurements and documentation of existing homes
* Prepare technical drawings, layouts, and construction details for home modification projects
* Assist with the design of accessible ramps, pathways, entry points, and structural adjustments
* Support feasibility assessments for NDIS complex home modifications
* Work collaboratively with occupational therapists and home modification assessors
* Ensure designs consider disability access, safety, and participant needs
* Liaise with builders, contractors, and certifiers
* Assist with project documentation and compliance requirements
* Contribute to solutions that promote independence, dignity, and accessibility
Qualifications
* Diploma or Degree in Civil Engineering, Engineering Technology, Drafting, or similar
* Experience preparing technical drawings or construction plans
* Strong knowledge of AutoCAD, Revit, or similar drafting software
* Understanding of residential construction principles
* Ability to interpret building plans and site conditions
* Strong problem-solving and technical communication skills
* Ability to work within a multidisciplinary disability support environment
Highly Desirable
* Experience working with NDIS home modifications
* Understanding of accessible housing design
* Knowledge of Australian accessibility standards (AS1428)
* Experience working with occupational therapists or disability service providers
* Understanding of universal design principles
* Experience with site levels, gradients, and drainage considerations
