Developer (12-month contract) 
We have a fantastic opportunity for an experienced Developer to join our Digital - Legal Service Operations in Melbourne. 
Responsibilities 
- Lead the design, development, optimisation, and administration of databases and business applications, with a robust focus on cloud-based and Microsoft technologies. 
- Proactively monitor, troubleshoot, and resolve database and application issues, chasing down root causes and implementing best-practice remediation. 
- Design and deliver scalable, secure, and future-ready solutions that align with business needs and industry best practice. 
- Champion a consultative approach, engaging stakeholders to understand requirements, influence solution design, and drive continuous improvement. 
- Plan and execute projects, ensuring robust documentation, knowledge transfer, and smooth handover to support teams. 
- Develop and maintain reporting solutions using SSRS and Power BI, enabling data-driven decision-making across the firm. 
- Manage and optimise integrations between key business systems, including practice, client, and document management systems. 
- Maintain strong cybersecurity practices, staying current with emerging threats and ensuring compliance with firm policies. 
- Collaborate with IT and business teams to support user environment builds, onboarding/offboarding, and secure access provisioning. 
- Promote a culture of innovation, continuous learning, and change adoption within the team and across the firm. 
Skills/Knowledge 
- Minimum 5 years' experience in Microsoft SQL Server (T-SQL), database management, and optimisation. 
- Skilled in Power Platform and Azure data tools and management. 
- Strong experience with Microsoft 365, SSRS, and Power BI for reporting and analytics. 
- Proficient in solution design, application development, and cloud-first principles. 
- Familiarity with legal technologies Aderant Expert, InterAction CRM, and iManage (desirable). 
- Knowledge of scripting and automation (e.g., PowerShell) to streamline operations. 
- Understanding of modern security practices and compliance requirements. 
Experience 
- Minimum 5 years in a similar database and systems development role, ideally within legal or professional services. 
- Proven experience with Microsoft SQL Server, Power Platform, M365, SSRS, Power BI, and application integration. 
- Experience with Aderant Expert, Interaction CRM, iManage, and hybrid cloud environments (desirable). 
- Track record of delivering projects, supporting digital transformation, and driving operational excellence.
