Job Title: Sexual Assault Support Counsellor
About the Role: Laurel House Therapeutic Services is seeking an experienced and committed counselling professional to join their team in Launceston, supporting services in North West Tasmania. This fixed-term part-time position is available from November 2024 and is funded by the 500 Workers Initiative Grant.
Key Responsibilities:
* Provide specialist clinical support and advocacy services to victims-survivors of sexual assault and non-offending family members
* Participate in outreach services and educational program delivery
* Have access to internal and external supervision, as well as generous professional development budgets and a highly skilled team
Requirements:
* Minimum Bachelor degree in counselling, social work, psychology or equivalent qualification
* Demonstrates knowledge of the impacts and dynamics of sexual assault, experience in trauma-informed counselling, and experience working with adults, young people, and children who have been impacted by sexual assault and violence
* Ability to intervene, prioritise, and manage crisis situations, as well as commitment to inclusive practice and proven capacity to meet diverse needs of clients
* Able to quickly acquire working knowledge of Tasmanian legislation and policies pertaining to sexual assault, child protection, and family violence
