STOKE CONSULTING IS HIRING A KEY MANAGER FOR AN AUSTRALIAN COMPANY

Sell into agricultural markets, particularly in the Darling Downs area

Long standing and growing business

Generous base salary and over $200,000 on target earnings

This Australian company, our client, is at the heart of sustainability through the recycling of products that would otherwise go to landfill and supplying farmers to help feed Australians and overseas consumers. They are a great Australian success story. Continued expansion has led to the need to appoint a new Sales and Marketing Manager.

While there are great opportunities for growth throughout Queensland and NSW, the Darling Downs area of Qld is in particular an area with great growth potential. For this reason, the ideal candidate would most likely be based in, or very close to the Darling Downs.

Role Overview

This is a very hands on role. The Sales and Marketing Manager will lead a small sales team. They will spend the majority of their time seeing customers.

- Spend the strong majority of time seeing customers, ranging from farm management to corporate buyers.
- Engage with and win new business from new customers.
- Win new business from existing customers.
- Effectively service the needs of the existing customer base ensuring strong client retention.
- Collaboratively form a structured plan with the sales team to most effectively cover the existing customer base as well as potential new customers. Plans to be developed at the weekly and monthly level. Include consideration of grower’s cycles.
- Organise marketing campaigns, such as bulk e‑mail communications.
- Plan well in advance to personally, and through the sales team, attend targeted events (trade shows, exhibitions, grower’s days…)
- Work closely with customers, prospects and the sales team to provide helpful forecasts for the business to allow effective resource planning.

The Person

Skills / experience / technical competency

- Likely at least 5‑10 years selling into agricultural markets.
- Likely at least 3‑5 years management experience.
- Formal sales training is preferable but not mandatory.
- Year 12 is preferable, but not mandatory.
- Agronomy qualification is preferable, but not mandatory.

Desired behavioural traits for success

- True blend of a strong capacity to work autonomously but also desire to pull a team together.
- Personal drive to win but also wants to see others win.
- An ability to think of creative ways to find new markets and applications, but very grounded in what is practical.
