Offer description

Your new company

Are you ready to fast-track your career and make waves on Queensland's stunning Sunshine Coast?

With a booming program of works across the North Coast Region (including transformative transport infrastructure projects) this is your chance to put your communication skills into top gear and be part of something big.

The Department of Transport and Main Roads are crossing new bridges - both literally and figuratively – to deliver innovative infrastructure to support one of Australia's most dynamic growing regions. And they need a communications expert to make sure their stories are heard loud and clear.

Your new role

Kingston Human Capital are working with TMR to appoint a Senior Communications Officer (AO6 level) to join the North Coast Region office in Buderim.

In this role, you'll lead compelling communications and stakeholder initiatives that drive understanding, inspire community confidence, and connect people to the exciting progress happening around them.

Whether it's telling stories about local community benefits or planning engagement strategies that ensure smooth journeys ahead, you'll thrive in this unique role centred around growth and transformation.

If you're someone who loves the idea of working at the crossroads of creativity and strategy, this is your on-ramp to something extraordinary.

Your primary responsibilities and activities will be:

* Driving the development, implementation, and management of strategic communication plans and campaigns for projects across the Sunshine Coast Region
* Working alongside project delivery teams to craft messaging that connects community members with the social and economic benefits of transport infrastructure
* Building strong and enduring stakeholder relationships - whether discussing timelines with contractors or engaging community groups interested in the projects
* Creating innovative materials (media releases, newsletters, social media content) that keep commuters and residents updated on project progress - no jargon, just clear, relatable information
* Acting as a trusted advisor, providing senior leaders and project teams with timely and expert advice on communication best practices and engagement strategies
* Identifying potential challenges before they arise and develop strategies to keep communication flowing smoothly (just like the highways)

What you will need to succeed

You're someone who can turn complexity into clarity and bring energy into every project you touch.

You might call yourself a storyteller, a strategic thinker, or even a "communications traffic controller" who ensures that everything stays on track.

To be successful in this role, you will need:

* Previous experience in Communications, Stakeholder Engagement, Community Engagement, or Public Relations roles
* Exceptional written and verbal communication skills (yes, you know the difference between "stationary" and "stationery").
* A proven ability to engage communities, build relationships with diverse stakeholders, and manage messaging with sensitivity—especially in high-profile or fast-paced environments
* A proactive, solutions-focussed mindset. If there's a roadblock, you know how to detour around it.
* Ability to pass a Criminal History Check prior to commencement

Ideally, you bring the above skills and experience and can add:

* Experience working in, or with, government departments, with the ability to balance community value with organisational priorities
* An understanding of infrastructure (bonus points for transport) - and if you've told the success stories of big builds before, we want to hear from you
* Tertiary qualifications in Communications or Public Relations (or related field) as well as IAP2 Certification

What's in it for you

This fantastic opportunity on the Sunshine Coast offers you:

* Hourly rate of $ $ % Superannuation
* An initial 2-year contract, with potential 12-month extension
* Monday to Friday only (Max 38 hours per week)
* Weekly pay cycles
* Mid/Late October start date
* Kingston Human Capital consultants based on the Sunshine Coast, supporting you throughout your assignment
