Business Manager

* $152,556.00 per annum + 12% superannuation
* Full time, ongoing opportunity
* Wadawurrung / Geelong based role (hybrid – 3 days a week in office)

About the opportunity

The Business Manager is a key position supporting the General Counsel and Executive Director, Legal & Governance and the Legal & Governance (L&G) Leadership team by providing a range of strategic coordination and oversight of business unit activities. The position provides business management function and acts as a conduit for operational activities and alignment of key priorities.


Key accountabilities

* Provide strong leadership, guidance and collaboration, both operationally and strategically, across the Legal & Governance Business Unit.
* Manage the high level day to day operation of the Office of General Counsel and Executive Director, Legal & Governance (GCO), encompassing a range of matters including but not limited to management and oversight of the GCO's internal and external communications with key business partners and stakeholders, the writing of non-legal Chief Executive Briefs, ministerial briefs and correspondence.
* Provide leadership and oversight on behalf of the GCO and the L&G Leadership team on risk management activities, internal audits, stakeholder groups and other relevant projects.
* Develop and maintain the Legal & Governance Business Plan in collaboration with the L&G Leadership team and assist with reports on performance.
* Ensure that the General Counsel and Executive Director, Legal & Governance and, where required, members of the L&G Leadership team are appropriately briefed and prepared for internal and external meetings, including the provision of secretariat support, preparing presentations and reports, advising on emerging or topical issues or attending meetings as a delegate.
* Assist with the management of design, development and implementation of systems, policies and procedures to support compliance with statutory obligations.
* Participate in developing and implementing initiatives, systems and solutions to improve governance and oversight activities, and the efficiency and effectiveness of the GCO and L&G Business Unit.
* Oversee the business and administrative support for the GCO, including finance and procurement systems, and monitoring the budget cycle for the GCO and the L&G Leadership team.

About you

You are an experienced Business Manager with strong project management and reporting capabilities. You're a team player who thrives in working collaboratively and delivering in a timely manner. Your outstanding communication and stakeholder engagement skills enable you to build and maintain trusted, professional relationships with a diverse stakeholder group.

Additionally, you will possess the following skills and experience:

* Significant experience in leading and managing programs and complex projects across multiple teams with demonstrated project management skills.
* Demonstrated ability to effect organisational change.
* Demonstrated ability to identify, develop, and implement business improvement measures and legislative reporting and notification requirements.
* Demonstrated capability to motivate and develop employees.
* Strong ability to undertake effective research and analyse materials.
* Knowledge of financial systems and business management.
* Knowledge and / or understanding of the principles of confidentiality associated with a law practice.
* Demonstrated ability to align activities to organisational goals.
* Demonstrated working knowledge of the Microsoft 365 suite of applications
* An understanding of Victoria's worker's compensation scheme and WorkSafe's role in enforcing health and safety and dangerous goods legislation
