Overview
Our team is technology agnostic and always looking at innovation. Work closely with the broader Leidos Engineering, Field Service Representatives (FSRs), and the customer's technical team.
Location: Scoresby. Hybrid work: minimum one day per week in office, flexible scheduling. Some local travel may be required for customer reviews and technical investigations.
Employment: Full‐time or part‐time (minimum 4 days per week). Opportunities also for 12 days additional leave per year via the Leidos Lifedays program.
Role Overview
Mission Systems Engineer supporting and sustaining capabilities for the Royal Australian Navy (RAN). Systems include Autonomous Underwater Vehicles (AUVs), Ruggedised Portable Computing Systems, Weather Stations and Weather Radar, and Hydrographic survey systems.
Responsibilities
* Develop and maintain mission system software baselines including building software images, testing applications, testing interfaces, applying Group Policy, security controls, patches and updates.
* Maintain effective integration between all mission system elements.
* Conduct investigations into reported defects/problems using a whole‐of‐system approach.
* Coordinate and plan mission system Security Accreditation within the Defence ICT Cyber‐Security Accreditation Framework.
* Design, implement and support technical solutions.
* Generate and maintain technical documentation defining system configuration and design processes.
* Provide technical advice to Leidos maintenance team and RAN end users.
* Mentor junior engineering staff to expand mission engineering depth and expertise.
* Contribute inputs into potential enhancements to the delivered mission systems.
Qualifications
* Bachelor's degree in Computer Systems, Telecommunication/Network, or Mechatronics/Robotics Engineering.
* Experience with IT infrastructure and platforms such as Windows, Linux, and Active Directory; implementing ICT security controls and settings.
* Engineering experience, preferably within the Defence industry.
* Working knowledge and experience with Defence ICT Cyber‐Security Accreditation.
* Experience deploying and managing software applications onto hardware systems.
* Understanding of Systems Engineering and Integrated Logistics Support activities.
* Experience developing engineering artefacts (Applications for Deviation, Problem Reports, Engineering Change Proposals, investigation reports, specialist design).
* Experience in risk and hazard identification/management within a Cyber‐Security regulatory framework.
