Primary objective
Provide high quality and efficient services relating to employment administration for client agencies with a variety of awards,
industrial agreements, and employment legislation.
Context Statement
As a shared service provider for Whole of Government, Employment Actions provides operational services relating to
employee commencements, transfers, contract extensions and associated employment activities.
Key duties and responsibilities
1. Action tasks associated with employment activities of client agencies ensuring quality service delivery.
2. Calculate and process salary and allowances as part of employee on-boarding.
3. Provide accurate and timely advice to internal and external clients on a range of employment processes.
4. Action Requests to Fill (RTFs) received via eRecruit relating to recruitment actions (i.e. contract extensions, actions
involving promotions or transfers, etc)
5. Prepare correspondence utilising HR Systems, ensuring clients are kept promptly and accurately informed.
6. Contribute to the operations and working dynamics of a team of employment staff ensuring the provision of high-quality
employment to services to clients.
7. Contribute to the development and implementation of continuous improvement programs, ensuring best practice in
employment services.
Selection criteria
Essential
1. Demonstrated experience successfully delivering high quality recruitment and selection services, including employee
commencement, and interpretation and application of employment legislation for on-boarding and contract generation.
2. Good working knowledge of Microsoft suite and computerised human resource and information/records management
systems, with good attention to detail and ability to deal with sensitive matters with confidentiality, empathy and
integrity.
1. Sound interpersonal skills and communication skills to build and sustain positive customer focused working relationships
and communicate effectively with diverse client agency stakeholders and employees.
1. Good organisational and time management skills including the ability to work effectively under pressure both
independently and in a team environment to meet required timeframes.
1. Demonstrated work ethic and attitude which emulates DCDD values of commitment to service, innovation, ethical
practice, accountability, impartiality, diversity, and respect.
Desirable
1. Knowledge of Northern Territory Public Sector employment legislation, recruitment principles and HR related systems.
2. Personal drive, potential and capacity to develop into senior roles.
