Do you want your work to make a difference for NSW?Permanent, Full-time opportunityLocated in the Sydney CBDSalary relative to experience, and ranges from $165,865 to $169,359 pa plus superannuation.Consideration may be given to a higher salary rate for specialised and highly aligned expertise.We are seeking a skilled Legal Counsel to provide expert legal advice across the organisation's operational and investment activities.Working closely with the General Counsel and the investment team, you will support the structuring and delivery of investments to ensure they align with legislative requirements, the Investment Mandate and internal governance frameworks.About the Role You will provide clear, practical legal advice across the organisation's investment and operational activities, helping teams navigate complex legal and regulatory issues.In this role, you will draft and negotiate key transaction documents—including confidentiality agreements, investment term sheets, intercreditor agreements and other project finance documentation—and manage external legal counsel on complex matters.You will support the investment team to structure and document transactions from internal approvals through to financial close, including reviewing due diligence materials with the General Counsel to identify and manage legal and reputational risks.You will also support the ongoing monitoring and administration of investments, assist with the implementation of internal policies and compliance obligations, and undertake legal research on emerging issues in energy infrastructure and project finance while providing advice on operational matters such as procurement and information access requests.Should you require further information about the role please contact Laurence Street, General Counsel & Chief Risk Officer via Laurence.street@escorp.com.au.About you You are a commercially focused lawyer who enjoys working closely with business teams on complex transactions. You bring sound judgement, strong technical skills and the ability to translate complex legal issues into practical advice.You will bring:Experience advising on infrastructure, project finance or investment transactionsStrong drafting and negotiation skills for commercial and financing agreementsExperience supporting due diligence and risk assessment processesExcellent analytical, research and communication skillsEssential RequirementsBachelor of Laws and Australian solicitor appointment.Experience in project finance law, ideally with a focus on renewable energy, energy storage, or related infrastructure assets.Experience conducting due diligence, contract negotiations and procurement, ideally in an infrastructure investment context.Excellent drafting skills.Knowledge of relevant legislation and mandatory government policy, including in relation to the governance of a statutory corporationExperience implementing legal compliance frameworks.For more information read the full Role Description: Role Description - Legal Counsel.docxWho we are The Energy Security Corporation is a NSW government-backed clean energy investor with a clear public mandate: to accelerate investment in large-scale storage, networks, consumer energy resources (CER) and enabling infrastructure to support a reliable and secure electricity system for New South Wales.
