ABOUT THE ROLE
Reporting to the Sport and Recreation Manager South Australia, the Youth Activities Coordinator is responsible for leading the delivery and ongoing development of the Milang Youth Hub, a community-based initiative providing safe, structured and inclusive engagement opportunities for young people in Milang and surrounding regions.
This role ensures the Hub operates as a consistent and trusted space for young people across separate under 12 and 13+ cohorts, offering recreational, social, creative and skill-building activities that foster belonging, confidence and resilience. The position will work within the team and will play a key role in building meaningful relationships with participants and families, supporting positive developmental outcomes and strengthening protective factors within a regional community context.
This position requires the applicant to run the program on a Friday evening at the Milang Youth Hub.
ABOUT YOU
To be considered for this role you will need:
* A qualification from a recognised TAFE, college or University in Community Services, Sport and Recreation, or similar discipline.
* Demonstrated experience in direct program delivery in sport and recreation, community development or a similar area.
* Awareness of the issues faced by marginalised target groups.
* Commitment to working respectfully with individuals and groups from culturally diverse backgrounds.
* Experience working effectively within community networks.
* Demonstrated ability to, with minimal supervision, work constructively and harmoniously in a team.
* Sound time management and organisational skills.
* Effective verbal and written communication skills.
* Demonstrated commitment to the safety of children, young people, and adults.
* Competent computer skills with the ability to create flyers.
* Previous experience in volunteer recruitment.
You will stand out if you have:
* Previous experience working with children, youth, and young adults.
* Demonstrated experience in establishing and maintaining positive working relationships within community networks.
* Experience in delivering Sport and Recreation sessions as a coach, teacher, or instructor.

This is a part-time role 6.0 hours per week. Maximum term appointment up to 31 January 2027 and commencing mid- March 2026. A competitive remuneration will be paid at SCHaDS Level 3.1 plus superannuation with the option to increase your income through salary packaging.
