We're looking for either a seasoned Senior Data Scientist or a high-potential Data Scientist ready to take on significant responsibility. Someone who understands the bridge between mathematical models and shipping reliable, user-facing software.
About the Role
We are seeking a Data Scientist with strong Python experience to take ownership of our Optimisation Suite - the core decision-support engine of the Sequential platform.
This is not a research-only role. You will design, build, and evolve production optimisation systems used daily by treasury teams managing securitisation structures. You will take existing prototype models and turn them into robust, scalable, production-grade systems that deliver real-time, iterative solutions for global financial institutions.
You will work closely with product and engineering to ensure your models are transparent, controllable, and deeply embedded in the user experience.

What You'll Do
Working closely with our product and engineering teams, you will:
* Lead Loan Movement Optimisation:
Improve and expand mixed-integer programming (MIP) models for loan sales, trust rebalancing, and pool selection.
* Architect Credit & Liquidity Logic:
Develop optimisation models and visualisations for liquidity horizon analysis and subscription/redemption engines.
* Solve Convergence Challenges:
Transition pool selection and allocation processes from "one-shot" attempts to robust, iterative approaches that reliably find solutions.
* Bridge the UI / Data Gap:
Partner with engineers and product to design UI controls and workflows that allow users to interact with and adjust models in real time.
* Mentor & Scale:
Share your expertise with the broader team and help build a culture of strong engineering, modelling discipline, and continuous improvement.
Technical Background
* Strong Python experience
* Experience with optimisation frameworks
* Comfort working with large data sets and complex constraint systems
* Experience moving models from prototype to production is highly valued
