MICAH Inclusion is a registered NDIS provider delivering Positive Behaviour Support, ABA-based capacity building, therapy assistance and support services across Bunbury and the South West.

About the Role

We are seeking a Positive Behaviour Support Practitioner to join the MICAH Inclusion team as an employee.

This role is suited to a practitioner who is passionate about working with children and young people, supporting families, and developing practical behaviour support that can be implemented across home, school and community settings.

As a PBS Practitioner at MICAH, you will complete behaviour support assessments, develop Interim and Comprehensive Behaviour Support Plans, support restrictive practice identification and reduction planning, and provide coaching and training to families, carers, support workers and other professionals.

You will be supported through clinical supervision, team collaboration, access to MICAH systems and resources, and a structured practice environment that supports quality, compliance and professional growth.

Key Responsibilities

  • completing intake, information gathering, observations and stakeholder consultation
  • conducting Functional Behaviour Assessments
  • developing Interim Behaviour Support Plans and Comprehensive Behaviour Support Plans
  • identifying behaviours of concern, risks, setting events, triggers, maintaining factors and likely behavioural function
  • developing proactive, skill-building and response strategies that are practical and person-centred
  • supporting the identification, documentation, review, reduction and elimination of restrictive practices where relevant
  • providing parent, carer, support worker and stakeholder coaching
  • collaborating with schools, allied health professionals, support coordinators and other providers
  • supporting implementation of Behaviour Support Plans across relevant settings
  • reviewing data, monitoring progress and updating strategies as needed
  • preparing clear, high-quality reports for NDIS and other relevant stakeholders
  • participating in clinical supervision, team meetings and professional development
  • maintaining accurate documentation in line with MICAH, NDIS and professional requirements
  • contributing to incident review, risk assessment and debriefing processes where required

About You

You will be someone who:

  • has a strong commitment to person-centred and rights-based practice
  • understands behaviour as communication and considers the person's environment, communication, sensory needs, relationships and support context
  • can build respectful relationships with families, schools and support teams
  • writes clear, practical and clinically meaningful reports and builds practical resources from these
  • is organised, reliable and able to manage competing clinical and administrative tasks
  • works well independently while also valuing supervision, collaboration and team input
  • is committed to ethical practice, professional reflection and ongoing learning

Essential Requirements

Applicants will need:

  • a relevant qualification in Behaviour Analysis, Psychology, Social Work, Occupational Therapy, Speech Pathology, Education, Disability, Human Services or a related field
  • current suitability as an NDIS Behaviour Support Practitioner with the NDIS Quality and Safeguards Commission
  • knowledge of Positive Behaviour Support, Functional Behaviour Assessment and Behaviour Support Plan development
  • understanding of the NDIS framework, the Positive Behaviour Support Capability Framework and relevant safeguarding requirements
  • strong written communication and documentation skills
  • NDIS Worker Screening Clearance
  • Working with Children Check
  • current driver's licence and access to a reliable vehicle
  • ability to travel across Bunbury and the South West as required

Highly Regarded

The following would be highly regarded:

  • experience working with autistic children and young people
  • experience supporting people with complex communication, sensory, regulation or daily living needs
  • experience working with schools, families and multidisciplinary teams
  • experience with restrictive practice documentation and reduction planning
  • training or experience in Applied Behaviour Analysis, trauma-informed practice, neuroaffirming practice or other evidence-informed approaches
  • experience using NDIS reporting systems and practice management software
