Embark on a transformative journey as a Senior Academic Lead, Allied Health (Occupational Therapy) at James Cook University's Central Queensland Centre for Rural & Remote Health.
About the Role
As a Senior Academic Lead, you will serve as the clinical leader for Occupational Therapy and the team leader for the Allied Health Team, playing a key role in shaping healthcare in the region. Your clinical expertise, passion for education, and research will support the Centre’s mission to improve rural and remote health outcomes.
You will lead the development of innovative allied health programs tailored to community needs, collaborating with healthcare professionals, academics, and stakeholders to improve access to care. Additionally, you will mentor future practitioners and contribute to research addressing rural health challenges.
Qualifications, Skills, and Experience
Qualified in Occupational Therapy with relevant postgraduate credentials and senior experience, you possess strong clinical expertise in community rehabilitation and/or paediatrics. You should have experience in teaching and working effectively in rural Queensland health environments. Skills in project and program management, leadership of a geographically dispersed team, and cultural competence are essential.

The James Cook University Central Queensland Centre for Rural and Remote Health (CQCRRH) in Emerald is part of a national network of 16 University Departments of Rural Health, funded through the Rural Health Multidisciplinary Training program to enhance clinical placements and community engagement, especially with Indigenous communities.
