About This Role
We are seeking an experiencedFirewall Engineerfor a 12-month contract with strong potential for extension.
The role focuses on managing and implementingfirewall rule changes,incident resolution, andchange managementin a highly secure and complex operational environment.
The successful candidate must have hands-on experience withCheckpoint firewalls(including policy creation and troubleshooting), along with a strong understanding of network security best practices.
You will play a key role in maintaining compliance, optimising security posture, and ensuring seamless traffic management across critical infrastructure.
As a Firewall Engineer, you will:
Manage and maintain network control points, including switching, routing, and firewalls.
Implement firewall rule changes and optimise network security across complex operational landscapes.
Apply cyber-security best practices aligned with the Purdue model for industrial control systems.
Troubleshoot and resolve complex network security issues in a structured, methodical way.
Work collaboratively with technology and project teams to deliver secure, high-performing network environments.
Requirements
About YouTo be successful, you will have:
Strong experience with networking, routing, and switching.
Hands-on experience with Checkpoint and Cisco Firewalls (including management platforms) - non-negotiable.
Ability to monitor firewall performance, capacity, and rulesets effectively.
A cyber-security mindset and strong understanding of change control best practices.
Experience with ServiceNow, Splunk, or DevOps tools (advantageous).
Tertiary qualifications in IT, Networking, or related discipline (preferred).
Exposure to mining, resources, or heavy industry environments (desirable).
