.ABOUT THE TEAM & BRANCH
The Intra-government Communications Network (ICON) provides an unmetered and cost-effective telecommunication service, connecting over 130 Australian Government agencies and service providers, through approximately 3800 point-to-point fibre optic links within the Australian Capital Territory.
The network of fibre optic links allows information to be communicated securely, with a classification up to PROTECTED, without the need for additional encryption. ICON enables buildings occupied by a Commonwealth entity to connect to one of the following:
* A building occupied by a different Commonwealth entity
* A building occupied by the same Commonwealth entity
* A building occupied by a Commonwealth entity service provider (e.g. a data centre)
ABOUT THE OPPORTUNITY The role has oversight of the ICON Service Desk, ICON procurement, ICON network incidents, assist with management of ICON splicing only requests, facilitate ICON information resources, for example, GovTEAMS, Intranet, Internet and quarterly newsletter content, participate in managing the section workflow tool including the provision of reports, and assist in other section activities when required.
Duties include:
* ICON Service Desk attendance.
* ICON Procurement activities.
* Work with independence to deliver quality outcomes including appropriate resolution of network incidents.
* Provide assistance for the delivery of ICON splicing-only projects and operational support using workflow, drawing and fibre splicing applications (Microsoft Visio, AutoCAD and FiberBase).
* Manage relationships and negotiate with customers, resolve issues and refer these to appropriate service channels when necessary.
* Liaise with internal and external stakeholders on project or operational issues including stakeholder engagement through various channels such as quarterly newsletter, email, phone enquires and ad-hoc forums.
* Participate in the coordination of quarterly and ad-hoc contract management activities with ICON service providers, including setting agendas, sourcing meeting contact, taking and publishing minutes.
* Maintain awareness of the longer-term strategic and operational outcomes for the Branch and Section including supporting changes in the broader work environment.
* Perform independent research work and analysis including the preparation of draft reports on workflows, ICON workload profiles and section activities.
