About the Role
We are a well-established and high-performing Japanese restaurant located on the Gold Coast, Queensland. Due to the continued business growth and increasing customer demand, we are seeking a skilled and experienced Chef specializing in Japanese cuisine to join our team.
This role requires a professional with strong technical expertise and the ability to maintain authentic food standards in a fast-paced, high-volume environment.
Key Responsibilities
* Oversee the preparation, cooking, and presentation of Japanese dishes to ensure consistent quality, and visual appeal.
* Design and update the menu, incorporating seasonal ingredients and customer preferences.
* Manage inventory and liaise with suppliers to ensure consistent availability of ingredients while minimizing waste.
* Supervise daily kitchen operations, ensuring that food preparation areas, tools, and equipment are clean and well-maintained.
* Lead, train, and develop kitchen staff in Japanese cooking techniques and proper kitchen practices.
* Monitor food costs and manage the kitchen budget effectively.
* Ensure full compliance with Australian food safety and hygiene regulations.
Skills and Experience Required
* Minimum 2 years of experience specializing in Japanese cuisine, particularly as a Japanese Cuisine Chef.
* Relevant qualification in Commercial Cookery or equivalent (preferred).
* Ability to work efficiently in a high-demand and fast-paced environment.
* Strong knowledge of kitchen operations, food safety, and cost control.
* Strong leadership, team management skills and communication skills.
