Offer description

Are you someone who wants to cement your place in the legal industry with a broad knowledge of different specialty areas?

We've got an exciting opportunity for the right candidate to join our North Geelong-based progressive and multidisciplinary company within our legal team. We are on the hunt for a junior lawyer to join our highly skilled, collaborative and supportive legal team.

Working from our spacious, open-plan, light-filled and newly refurbished office in the Federal Mills Business Precinct, you will find yourself at home surrounded by luscious indoor greenery, forward-thinking team members and real people from real walks of life.

Joining our growing legal team, this is a full-time position for a dynamic person-centred person who is committed to making a difference. You will be the go-to team member for assisting our Family Law, Wills and Estates and Conveyancing departments, be a wizard in drafting and preparing documents and provide the highest level of client satisfaction, all while supporting the heads of departments.

About you

We don't want just another person to add to the 'staff'. We want a teammember, someone who is looking for a workplace to call home. To truly succeed in this role, you must be enthusiastic, driven, self-motivated, thrive when working as a team, have initiative and be meticulous. Most of all, we're looking for someone who has a 'yes, can do and willing to learn' attitude.

* Minimum of 1 - 2 years of working experience in a law firm is desirable; however, first-time lawyers will also be considered;
* Hold a current Victorian Legal Practising Certificate;
* Have a proactive approach to learning and adapting to changes in our practising areas of laws and regulations;
* Knowledge and experience using PEXA, Duties Online, and LEAP (or similar platforms) is preferable;
* Strong work ethic, a keen analytical mind, and unwavering determination to succeed;

Extra desirable requirements would look like… Acceptance of the Canny ethos "all people, all walks of life" and a determination to treat all people who interact with our office, in any capacity, with great respect, in line with our ethos.

* Ability to work well with all team members in all divisions, inclusive of all personalities, in line with our Canny Culture;
* Contribute to the maintenance of effective communication channels;
* Identify and communicate to your manager, any issues or concerns impacting upon your performance and also make suggestions that will improve service quality;
* Willingness to participate in the development and implementation of any new programs or projects; and
* Self-motivation to continually update skills and knowledge by participating in training and education, and reading professional publications.
