About The Opportunity
Austal and the Commonwealth of Australia are delivering a landmark Strategic Shipbuilding Agreement (SSA) that will support the Continuous Naval Shipbuilding and Sustainment Enterprise and the delivery of multiple new defence shipbuilding projects, such as Landing Craft-Medium and Landing Craft-Heavy for the Australian Army. Once signed, the SSA will drive significant growth across our industry and workforce, and enable the design and construction of vessels at our Henderson shipyard, establishing enduring shipbuilding capability in the Henderson Defence Precinct and across Western Australia. As a key member of the team, you will be responsible for Reliability, Availability & Maintainability (RAM) functions for a strategic shipbuilding project, and manage engineering investigations to support RAM improvements of in-service assets while maintaining technical integrity and cost effectiveness.
What’s Involved
* Conduct reliability investigations to identify deficiencies in existing mission and support systems and/or to optimise asset reliability, availability, maintainability and safety.
* Prepare and report on findings through the Engineering Investigation process.
* Develop and maintain reliability engineering processes and procedures as required.
* Maintain a consolidated RAM documentation suite on the Business Management System (BMS).
* Perform modelling and analysis related to reliability, availability, maintainability and safety (e.g., FMECA, RCA and RCM).
* Prepare FMECAR and Integrated Reliability, Maintainability, and Testability Program Report (IRMPTR).
You’ll Need
* Baseline Security Clearance (Australian Citizen).
* Bachelor of Engineering in Mechanical, Electrical or equivalent qualification.
* Experience in reliability engineering or lifecycle cost analysis.
* Understanding of the Logistics Support Analysis (LSA) process.
* Well-developed oral and written communication skills.
Highly Desirable
* Experience in Defence major/mission systems, preferably Land or Maritime Systems.
* Knowledge of ISO 55000 Asset Management.
* Experience in Defence Contracting (ASDEFCON), including Requirements Traceability.
* Experience or knowledge of document configuration management.
