Yellow Iron Fleet is expanding our mining operations and now requires additional mining engineers to provide direction and leadership to our mining teams. In addition to our life of mine contract at Atlas Mine, Balranald, Yellow Iron Fleet has been awarded a significant mining contract in Western Australia and with further projects in final stages of award we are looking for mine engineering professionals who are ready to join a team and be part of this exciting stage of development for our company.
The Role
An exciting opportunity has become available for a mining engineer to join our team at Atlas Campaspe. Reporting directly to the Project Manager, you will be an integral component to the success of the project. You will find yourself working in a team where both operations and engineering services are aligned. This unique environment will expose you to many opportunities for learning, growth of mining engineering skills as well as leadership attributes.
The role of mining engineer is accountable for providing technical support such as designs, short term planning, scheduling, and monitoring of mining performance of our fleet.
Responsibilities of the Role:
* Work closely with production supervisors, clients, and fellow planners to create safe, efficient, and optimized plans that are delivered on time.
* Make sure the production budget stays on track through smart planning, efficient scheduling, and smooth coordination of all activities involving the mining fleet.
* Keep supervisors, clients, and other key mine site personnel informed by sharing and updating short-term plans and activities.
* Overseeing the mining fleet to maintain peak performance and guiding supervisors on necessary improvements.
* Participate in regular pit tours with supervisors, monitoring conditions and adjusting plans or schedules as necessary.
* Incorporate rehabilitation requirements into the design stage of waste dumps, implementing effective controls to minimize the need for bulk push operations.
* Ensure effective controls are in place so dig/dump designs are followed and ensuring GPS plans are available for diggers & dozers.
* Preparation of claims and other client requested documentation.
Skills and Experience:
* Tertiary qualifications in Mining Engineering or similar
* Experience in mining packages such as Surpac and Deswick will be favourable but not essential
* Experience with large scale excavator truck and excavator operations
