Job Overview
This role involves designing, building, and installing engineering systems on luxury yachts, ensuring compliance with current drawings, specifications, and guidelines.
Key Responsibilities
* To design, build, and install engineering systems on luxury yachts.
* To collaborate with other trades to support the yacht build process, utilizing mechanical engineering knowledge to resolve issues efficiently.
Required Skills and Qualifications
* A thorough understanding of mechanical engineering systems, including hydraulics, plumbing, air conditioning, gas installations, engine/gearbox, and final drive installations.
* Previous experience in marine engineering, preferably within the yacht or recreational craft building industry.
* Certification in City & Guilds (as a minimum) and a broad understanding of marine engineering requirements.
* Familiarity with construction techniques used in GRP boats and current marine engineering technologies.
* Awareness of health and safety guidelines and best practices.
* Ability to work independently and collaboratively with other trades, safely using ladders, working at uneven levels, and in confined spaces.
* Able to read and interpret engineering drawings and written specifications, as well as use hand, power, and bench-mounted tools.
* Experience with metal fabrication, including TIG welding, and exceptional attention to detail with a 'right first-time' approach.
