We are seeking a motivated and experienced Clinical Director – Women’s and Children’s to work for the Department of Health (DoH) across the North West region. This role will require the successful applicant to provide a high level of strategic leadership and direction, ensuring resources are efficiently utilised, services are effectively integrated within the hospital/service and the highest standards of service delivery are achieved in accordance with hospital/service policy directions, service standards and financial targets, in addition to direct clinical care. Servicing a population of approximately 116,000, the DoH North West, has major sites, North West Regional Hospital (NWRH) and Mersey Community Hospital (MCH) located approximately 50km apart. The Department of Health – North West provides an obstetrics and gynaecology and paediatric service. The Department of Obstetrics and Gynaecology provides a consultative service and is supported by a level 4 maternity, a level 4 neonatal unit, and an 8 bed intensive care unit. The maternity unit, housing the birthing suite and all inpatient maternity patients for the region, is located at the NWRH, with antenatal care provided at the MCH. There are approximately 1000 births annually and staffing includes experienced midwives with highly respected MGP scheme. The outreach services are located at regional centres which include the West Coast District Hospital, Smithton District Hospital and King Island District Hospital and Health Centre. The current senior staffing mix includes full time and part time Specialists, in addition the NWRH is RANZCOG accredited for 2 FRANZCOG core trainees and Advanced Proceduralist trainees. Excellent continuing education opportunities are led by training Registrars with support from the consultants. The gynae service includes urodynamics, colposcopy and laparoscopy. The Paediatrics Department provides a consultative service supported by inpatient and outpatient services, as well as outreach services located at regional centres which include the West Coast District Hospital, Smithton District Hospital and King Island District Hospital and Health Centre. The NWRH provides a neonatal service and busy inpatient service. The MCH provides an ever increasing general, behavioural and community paediatrics service. The current senior staffing mix includes full time and part time Specialists, in addition the NWRH is accredited with the RACP for Registrar training. This position will be attractive to highly skilled and motivated medical professionals who view challenges as opportunities and is driven by a passion to improve healthcare in the complex world of modern health systems. The right applicants will play a key role in developing health care at both patient and system levels. If you are an Obstetrician and Gynaecologist, solid generalist O&G skills will be an advantage or if you are a Paediatrician, exposure to rural and community paediatrics will be beneficial. The DoH offers a comprehensive undergraduate and graduate clinical training program, with close ties to the University of Tasmania through the Rural Clinical School. As such, you will be responsible for providing leadership and help with the delivery of the Undergraduate general medical education program. Salary: Specialist Medical Practitioners Specialist Medical Practitioner Level 1- Senior Specialist Medical Practitioner Level 3 $216,300 - $310,389 per annum, pro rata 11.5% superannuation Please note that access to the Senior Specialist Medical Practitioner salary range $300,216 -$310,389 is subject to the successful applicant satisfying the criteria for Senior Specialist Medical Practitioner Level 1, 2 or 3 as outlined in the Medical Practitioners (Tasmanian State Service) Award Salary range is in accordance with Medical Practitioners Agreement 2022 In addition, the following allowances and benefit, calculated on the salaried incremental point may be available Salary packaging options include a range of benefits like living expenses up to $9,010 and $2,650 in meals and entertainment every year Provision of a fully maintained private plated motor vehicle or motor vehicle allowance of $28,389 per annum, pro rata Allowance in lieu of private practice schemes 35% North West Retention Allowance 20% Generous relocation assistance and accommodation available A range of leave entitlements, including study leave and Professional Development Support.
