Overview
Location: Work from home - preferably NSW
NSW Wild Harvest Fishers Inc. is the peak industry representative association for the wild harvest commercial fishing industry in NSW and is seeking a full-time Executive Officer to lead the organisation into its next phase of growth and impact.
As EO, you will lead the Association by driving strategy, representing members, shaping policy, and delivering hands-on advocacy while building strong government, industry, and community relationships in a high-profile, public-facing role.
The EO will ensure the organization’s effectiveness by working with the Chair and the Board in setting and implementing fisheries policy, strategy, and good governance whilst building and nurturing effective relationships with key stakeholders including politicians, departmental officers, media and other industry and community organizations.
Responsibilities
* Lead the Association by driving strategy, representing members, shaping policy, and delivering hands-on advocacy while building strong government, industry, and community relationships in a high-profile, public-facing role.
* Work with the Chair and the Board in setting and implementing fisheries policy, strategy, and good governance, while building and nurturing effective relationships with politicians, departmental officers, media and other industry and community organizations.
Selection Criteria
* Demonstrated experience in an Executive Officer (EO), Executive Director, or General Manager role with hands-on experience in running all aspects of an industry body.
* Proven corporate governance and strategy expertise.
* High-level political and stakeholder engagement skills, balancing grassroots advocacy with state and national influence.
* Strong financial acumen, including P&L responsibility and commercial contract negotiation.
* Experience in media, public relations, and public speaking.
* Demonstrated track record in building and unifying diverse teams, fostering culture, and managing conflict sensitively.
* Qualifications in management, administration, or equivalent degrees.
* Engagement as an independent contractor with an Australian Business Number (ABN) for GST and a suitable business structure.
