About the Role As a Configuration Management Officer at Austal Defence Australia (ADA), you will play a key role in supporting the coordination and delivery of Project Configuration Management (CM) activities in accordance with the approved CM Plan. Working closely with the Configuration Manager/Lead, you will contribute to the effective execution of CM processes across the project lifecycle. Your work will ensure the integrity, traceability, and control of configuration information, directly supporting customer acceptance of each vessel and enabling a seamless transition to sustainment activities. This is a critical role in maintaining compliance, quality, and consistency across complex maritime defence projects. Key Responsibilities Support the coordination and delivery of Configuration Management (CM) activities in alignment with project plans, schedules, and contractual requirements. Assist in the completion, verification, and close-out of CM deliverables to ensure compliance with defined processes and milestones. Ensure accurate capture, control, and maintenance of configuration data and changes within the Product Lifecycle Management (PLM) system. Contribute to the planning, coordination, and execution of Configuration Audits, including functional and physical audits, and support associated reporting activities. Maintain and provide regular Configuration Status Accounting (CSA), ensuring stakeholders have accurate and timely visibility of configuration baselines and changes. Support the Engineering Change Management process by assisting in the coordination, tracking, and assessment of configuration impacts across the project. Adhere to established CM processes and procedures to ensure consistent, high-quality outputs across all project activities. Identify opportunities for process improvement and contribute to the continuous enhancement of CM practices, tools, and methodologies. Foster effective collaboration and communication across internal teams and external stakeholders, including engineering, production, quality, and customer representatives. Assist in the integration and alignment of configuration management activities across project disciplines (e.g. Design, Engineering, Production, and Supply Chain). About You To be successful in this role, you will demonstrate strong attention to detail, organisational skills, and the ability to work collaboratively in a complex project environment. Essential Qualifications & Experience: Certificate IV (or higher) in a relevant technical discipline. Demonstrated ability to work within structured processes and maintain accurate technical records. Strong communication and stakeholder engagement skills. Proficiency in Microsoft Office and familiarity with data management systems. Desirable: Experience in Configuration Management within defence, maritime, engineering, or manufacturing environments. Familiarity with Product Lifecycle Management (PLM) systems. Understanding of engineering change processes and configuration control principles. Maritime degree, trade qualification, or relevant industry experience. Why Join Austal?
