Position Information Girraween Public School has a school population of 1100 students and over 100 staff members. Of these students approximately 30 students are enrolled in our three support unit classes. 97% of Girraween Public School students are from a Language Background Other Than English. The most predominant languages are Tamil, Gujarati, Telugu and Hindi. 61% of our student population were born in Australia. 3 students identify as Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islanders. The school is in the middle of a major rebuild project which will see many demountable classrooms be replaced with bricks and mortar. Our library space is also shared with our Before and After School Provider. Our library currently has a high number of students attending each day. The librarian is responsible for teaching through RFF programs, co-teaching and collaborative planning with staff. This position will begin Term 1 2026. Selection Criteria Approval to teach K-6 library or currently undertaking or currently enrolled in Teacher Librarian qualifications approved by the NSW Department of Education. Demonstrated ability to engage all students through innovative teaching and learning experiences, promoting critical and creative thinking, digital literacy and a love of literature. Proven ability to contribute to the collaborative design and implementation of explicit teaching and learning experiences across Key Learning Areas. Demonstrated ability to effectively manage a school library using the Oliver Library Management System, including budget and resource management. Highly developed communication, organisation and interpersonal skills. Conditions An unconditional full approval to teach is a requirement.
