About the role
Thiess currently has an opportunity available for a Finance Analyst to join their already established team and build on their knowledge and experience. This role is based at Lake Vermont, 19 kms north of Dysart.
As Lake Vermont's next Finance Analyst you will report to the Finance and Administration Manager and will work collaboratively with Management and site stakeholders. You will thrive on meeting all goals and challenges and act with fairness and integrity in all that you do.
This rewarding role will require you to provide professional advice and support to the project regarding its financial accountability, profitability and controls while ensuring financial performance targets are achieved. Key to the success of the role is developing a deep understanding of the project's profitability and commercial touchpoints as well as being able to communicate and influence site stakeholders. Ideally the successful candidate is a commercial all-rounder with practical experience in procurement / contracts to ensure well-rounded commercial support and advice can be provided across site.
This role is a 12 month max-term contract (with potential to extend) working a ************* roster. Your duties will include but are not limited to:
Lead the completion of end-of-month processes
Assist with budgeting and forecasting process
Completion of variance analysis and monthly cost review meetings
Preparation of weekly reports
Provide step-up support for the Senior Accountant
Provide support and coaching to Administration Officers as required
Preparation of quarterly FBT Returns
Assist with the preparation of the Client Claims
Support site stakeholders with business cases / improvement initiatives
Lead and implement improvements to commercial processes / practices
Completion of internal and external audits to ensure quality assurance
About you
We are seeking an accounting professional who has a minimum of 3 years demonstrated experience in a similar position within the Mining Industry.
Other requirements for success in this role are:
Tertiary qualification in accounting or equivalent
Certified Practicing Accountant or Chartered Accountant (Preferred or working towards)
Proficient in MS Excel
Excellent written and verbal communication skills
Ability to deal with ambiguity and change
Must be highly organized and able to manage multiple tasks simultaneously
Can engage and build relationships with stakeholders (primarily internal)
Ability to exercise discretion / confidentiality at all times
A dependable and reliable professional who is resilient and eager to learn
