Sales and Marketing Director Australia
Locations: Melbourne / Sydney / Brisbane
Reporting to the Managing Director Australia, the Sales and Marketing Director is a strategic leadership role responsible for leading sales operations, customer experience, and marketing teams in line with defined strategies to achieve sales targets and market share objectives in Australia.
The Sales and Marketing Director applies proven commercial leadership skills to lead teams in innovative growth initiatives, share gain strategies, and efficiency techniques.
This individual will effectively partner across functions, locally, regionally, and globally, to align commercial strategies with company goals to drive growth and profitability.
Main Responsibilities:
1. Business Development:
o Contribute to shaping and implementing comprehensive country-wide strategies.
o Identify and evaluate market opportunities for growth, engaging across Business Units to drive development in emerging testing or new market segments.
o Manage business budgets, including revenue, margin, and operating expenditure, to deploy resources towards growth initiatives.
o Uncover and seize growth opportunities, including emerging testing and new market segments.
o Develop a deep understanding of Australian market dynamics and the company's value proposition to improve win rate and customer intimacy.
o Monitor market intelligence, including competition, macroeconomics, and regulatory environment.
2. Customer Management:
o Forge and maintain top-tier customer relationships, representing the company in senior negotiations.
o Drive commercial excellence initiatives and adoption of the full customer value proposition.
o Develop key account strategies to drive incremental growth through value propositions and network selling solutions.
o Establish meaningful connections with Partners, KOLs, and key customers to explore new business opportunities and improve customer experience.
3. Team Management:
o Cultivate and lead an impactful commercial team, ensuring a robust talent pipeline.
o Lead commercial efficiency through data-driven decision-making and continuous improvement.
o Manage the selection, training, and development of senior staff, establishing lines of control and delegating responsibilities.
o Foster cross-functional relationships with other departments (Operations, Quality, Finance, etc.).
Your Profile:
* Bachelor's or Master’s Degree in business management, applied sciences, or equivalent; MBA or similar experience preferred.
* Minimum 15 years’ experience in sales or marketing management within the life sciences/scientific industry; experience in Food and Dairy sectors is a plus.
* Proven ability to work effectively across businesses and regions in a multi-divisional matrix organization.
* Strong interpersonal skills and knowledge of financial and business operations.
* Ability to develop and execute creative growth strategies.
* Track record of developing and implementing successful commercial strategies.
* Proficiency in financial analysis and profit & loss management.
* Willingness to travel up to 30%, primarily within Australia.
