The Smith Family is a national children’s education charity that works with children and young people to overcome educational inequality caused by poverty – so they can thrive now and into their futures.
About the role
Our Learning for Life program provides emotional, practical and financial support to help children and young people experiencing disadvantage with their education. Our support starts in the early years of learning development and continues through primary and high school.
As part of the Learning for Life team, the Programs Coordinator works with families and partner schools in the Darwin and Palmerston areas, to coordinate the delivery of the Learning for Life suite of programs, including the development and maintenance of key school partnerships.
As a Programs Coordinator, you will:
- Taking a data-led approach, identify the needs of schools and the community to determine suitable program implementation.
- Develop and maintain purposeful relationships with partner schools and other community organisations to support the delivery of a core suite of programs.
- Provide recognition, support and training to program delivery volunteers.
- Provide support in the maintenance and/or delivery of our suite of education-focussed programs.
- Contribute as a valued member of a local Learning for Life Team, and collaborate with the broader organisation
- Focus on personal and professional growth, including on-the-job skill development and regular coaching with your leader

About You
Programs Coordinator’s come from diverse backgrounds with different skills and experience.
As well as a passion for supporting student educational outcomes, you will bring:
- Experience in planning and coordinating programs, including program content delivery to small groups
- Experience in establishing and maintaining relevant partnerships
- Effective interpersonal and communication skills
- Capability to work autonomously; organising your own day, problem solving and adapting when things don’t go to plan
- Computer literacy and motivation; completing administrative or data entry tasks and achieving goals
- A current driver’s licence
