We are seeking a motivated and hands-on Fleet Manager to oversee daily fleet and transport operations, ensuring efficient scheduling, compliance, and customer satisfaction across container movements.
Key Responsibilities
* Plan, coordinate, and oversee daily container transport operations, including container preloads, driver scheduling, and job allocation
* Manage the allocation of transport jobs to company and contract drivers, ensuring clear communication of start times and delivery requirements
* Oversee import container bookings, including same-day and next-day scheduling, to ensure timely collection and delivery
* Monitor and manage 1-Stop lists and time slot bookings, ensuring compliance with port and terminal requirements
* Implement proactive planning strategies to minimise storage, detention, and demurrage costs
* Coordinate and manage empty container returns, ensuring efficient turnaround and compliance with depot requirements
* Ensure driver compliance with fatigue management, Chain of Responsibility (CoR), and transport safety regulations
* Act as a key point of contact for customers, drivers, depots, ports, and internal teams, resolving operational issues promptly
* Utilise and oversee transport and port systems including 1-Stop, Container Chain, and Freight Tracker to monitor movements and performance
* Maintain accurate fleet and operational records, including schedules, compliance documentation, and performance data
* Support continuous improvement initiatives to enhance fleet efficiency, safety, and service delivery
Qualifications & Experience
* Relevant qualification in transport, logistics, supply chain, or a related field (preferred)
* Minimum 1 year of experience in fleet management, fleet control, or container transport operations
* Strong understanding of container logistics, port operations, and transport scheduling
* Knowledge of Chain of Responsibility (CoR), fatigue management, and compliance requirements
* Experience using transport and port platforms such as 1-Stop, Container Chain, or Freight Tracker (highly regarded)
* Strong organisational, communication, and problem-solving skills
* Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced transport environment
