About the Role

We are seeking an experienced and driven Business Development Manager to join our commercial team in Melbourne. You will be responsible for identifying new business opportunities, building long-term client relationships, and delivering growth through lead generation, account management, and industry engagement.

You will collaborate closely with the Commercial Manager and lead a small sales team to deliver strong commercial outcomes. This is a strategic and hands-on role with scope to shape client partnerships, support tenders, and represent Envirolab at key industry events.


Key Responsibilities

* Lead Generation & Client Acquisition - Identify prospects, make contact via cold-calling, and convert new leads into active clients.
* Account Management - Manage client inquiries, quotes, and follow-ups. Build trusted relationships with top-tier and emerging clients.
* Strategy & Revenue Growth - Contribute to revenue strategies, oversee tender submissions, and present the Envirolab value proposition.
* Client Engagement - Conduct regular site visits and maintain a presence at industry events and conferences.
* Team Leadership - Mentor and coach sales representatives, conduct performance reviews, and foster a culture of commercial excellence.
* Process Improvement - Lead initiatives to streamline workflows, improve client service delivery, and contribute to business efficiency.


Requirements

To succeed in this role, you will have:

* 5+ years' experience in business development or sales, preferably in a scientific or technical industry.
* A Bachelor's degree in Science, Business, or a related field (preferred).
* Strong knowledge of CRM tools and reporting systems.
* Excellent negotiation, influencing, and stakeholder management skills.
* A collaborative approach and experience mentoring junior team members.
* The ability to travel interstate and attend events as needed.
