**The Company**
Our client, Port of Melbourne (PoM), is Australia's largest capital city container and general cargo port, handling more than one-third of the nation's container trade. They operate as a landlord port and are responsible for planning, operating and maintaining port land and shipping channels. They ensure the port has the capacity and capability needed to handle cargo, and that facilities and infrastructure are developed and maintained as necessary.
The organisation is owned by a consortium of shareholders with local and global expertise in delivering world-class port and infrastructure facilities and services.
**The Role**
The Commercial Analyst will play an important part in strategically analysing PoM's key property arrangements, and assisting in activities to ensure these are efficiently managed, optimised and kept current.
Reporting to the Head of Property, you will work with key internal and external stakeholder groups across the business to analyse and report on PoM's port performance, business development, trade facilitation objectives, current issues and determining or delivering business responses including project coordination.
The role also involves working with the Head of Business Development and Commercial Project Lead.
**About you**
This role will suit a self-motivated and enthusiastic individual with the adaptability and willingness to do what it takes to get things done. You will be someone who enjoys the technical aspects of an analytical role but also has excellent communication skills and enjoys discussion and collaboration.
Additionally, you will require the following experience:
- Tertiary qualification in business, logistics, commerce, law or engineering
- 3 to 5 years consulting or industry experience.
- Understanding of computer programming principles and logic, experience using SAS or Power BI, or similar specialist statistical analysis software, VBA and SQL.
- Demonstrated experience in strategy development, business analysis and business case preparation in complex scenarios.
- Logistics experience will be favourably considered.
