About the Role
We are supporting a leading global renewable energy services provider in the search for an experienced Field Area Manager to oversee maintenance and operational activities across a portfolio of utility-scale solar power plants in Australia.
This is a senior field-based leadership role responsible for ensuring safe, reliable, and high-quality performance of solar generation assets. The Field Area Manager will manage site supervisors and field technicians, drive operational excellence, and ensure compliance with technical, contractual, and safety requirements.
Key Responsibilities
Leadership & Team Management
* Lead, mentor, and support site supervisors, technicians, and specialist personnel across multiple sites.
* Oversee staffing levels, training, performance reviews, and site culture to ensure high standards of safety and workmanship.
Operations Management
* Ensure power plants operate within approved budgets and contractual obligations.
* Monitor plant performance, troubleshoot issues, and work with central engineering teams to minimize downtime.
Maintenance Oversight
* Oversee preventive and corrective maintenance, including planning, scheduling, and resource allocation.
* Support commissioning, start-up activities, acceptance testing, and system optimisation.
Technical Capability
* Provide guidance on AC/DC systems, including inverters, switchgear, tracking systems, transformers, sensors, meters, and SCADA monitoring.
Skills & Experience
* Minimum 5 years' experience in the utility, energy, or power sector.
* Proven experience in operations, maintenance, outage coordination, and performance reporting.
* Minimum 2 years' supervisory experience managing field teams.
* Strong understanding of power plant operations, HSEQ compliance, budgeting, and personnel management.
* Excellent communication, organisational, and problem-solving skills.
* Ability to work in demanding customer environments and manage multiple priorities.
Education & Certifications
* Valid Electrical Supervisor or Electrical Contractor Licence.
* High Voltage Switching Operator certification preferred but not essential.
* White Card, First Aid, and LV Rescue certifications.
* Qualification in Electrical Engineering, Business, or a related field desirable.
