About the Role
This is a part-time permanent opportunity (17.5 hours per week) based at Uniting's Youth Services Hub on Alfred Street, Dubbo. The role will work across primary and secondary schools in Dubbo, delivering the Youth First early intervention group program.

Flexibility is available to work across 3–5 days per week. Availability to work on Wednesdays is essential, as this is the program's team meeting, supervision, and collaboration day.

The Group Worker supports children and young people by facilitating small group programs within school settings that promote emotional regulation, healthy relationships, self-care, and positive behaviour change. Programs are delivered in safe, inclusive spaces that strengthen belonging, wellbeing, and protective factors, helping young people remain safe, connected, and engaged in school and community.

Youth First workers facilitate groups of approximately five students per school term, focusing on building emotional awareness and supporting young people to navigate relationships with peers. This role will also provide brief one-on-one support to children within public school settings to build and practise emotional regulation and social skills.

About you in the role

You will be trained in a range of evidence-based programs
Travel directly to schools to facilitate groups (1–2 periods)
Complete brief note taking and data entry related to group engagement and client management
Work flexibly between school sites, home, and the office for planning and documentation
Attend monthly team meetings, supervision, and team-building activities (Wednesdays)
Participate in both group and individual supervision with the Program Coordinator

About You

Experience working with children and young people
Confidence facilitating small groups
Strong organisation and preparation skills
Comfort with data entry and case notes
Positive energy and the ability to build trust and rapport with young people
Strong teamwork skills and a collaborative approach

NSW Working with Children Check and a Current Driver Licence

Even Better

Experience facilitating group programs
Previous experience working in schools
Certificate IV or working towards a qualification in a relevant sector
Confidence using case management systems (e.g., CIMS)
