* Oversee the end-to-end financial accounting cycle, including Accounts Payable (supplier invoices for imported stock and overheads) and Accounts Receivable (dealer payments and rebates).
* Lead the monthly, quarterly, and annual closing processes, ensuring all financial statements are accurate and compliant with Australian Accounting Standards (AASB).
* Reconcile complex general ledger accounts, specifically focusing on vehicle inventory, prepayments, accrued liabilities, and manufacturer incentives.
* Manage the preparation and submission of all statutory returns, including BAS, IAS, and FBT, ensuring strict compliance with ATO regulations.
* Supervise junior accounting staff and manage the processing of payroll and superannuation.
Funding & Treasury Management
* Manage the day-to-day liquidity and cash flow forecasting to support the import and distribution cycles.
* Act as the primary liaison with banking institutions and floorplan providers, managing relationships and negotiating funding terms.
* Monitor and optimize the vehicle inventory funding structure, ensuring the company maintains the most cost-effective financing solutions.
* Track interest accruals and funding costs associated with stock financing, providing analysis to management on the financial impact of inventory holding periods.
* Manage foreign exchange risk hedging strategies related to import payments.
Commercial Analysis & Reporting
* Prepare and analyze monthly management reports, providing insights into gross profit margins, overhead efficiency, and inventory turnover.
* Conduct detailed variance analysis to identify trends and areas for financial improvement.
* Assist in the annual budgeting and rolling forecast processes, providing financial data to support strategic planning.
Candidate Requirements
Education & Qualifications
* Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related business field. CPA or CA qualifications (or progress towards) are highly desirable.
* Formal qualifications or certifications in Treasury Management would be viewed favorably but are not mandatory.
Experience
* Minimum of 6 years of experience in a commercial finance role within a trading, import environment. Experience within the automotive industry(specially distributor operations)is preferable.
* Proven experience managing "floorplan" financing or inventory-backed lending facilities is essential.
* Experience with automotive industry accounting practices, including parts and vehicle inventory valuation, is highly advantageous.
* Previous experience using Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) systems such as SAP, Oracle, or similar is required.
* Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel (pivot tables, advanced formulas).
* Exceptional analytical skills with the ability to interpret complex financial data and present it clearly.
* Strong leadership qualities with the ability to mentor staff and manage deadlines.
* High level of integrity, discretion, and the ability to handle confidential financial information.
