About the role
Are you passionate about empowering youth and making a positive difference? Selectability's Empowered Youth programs are seeking enthusiastic and skilled mentors to support individuals as they complete various certificates and build brighter futures. Based in Townsville, the Lifestyle Support Worker Mentor is required to travel to Palm Island to support students during the delivery of Cert I Hospitality.
Key responsibilities include but are not limited to:
* Mentoring and providing educational support to youth engaged in certificate programs
* Empowering youth to build confidence, life skills, and resilience
* Creating a positive and inclusive environment that fosters learning and growth
* Collaborating with the program coordinator to deliver tailored support
About you
To be successful, you must:
* Have experience training or teaching others; a background in teaching or coaching is desirable
* Be patient and able to work with individuals requiring extra support and guidance
* Possess clear and effective communication skills
* Have experience working in a team environment
* Be committed to helping others achieve their goals
* Exhibit problem-solving abilities
* Be able to follow policies and procedures at all times
* Be able to work with culturally and linguistically diverse communities and individuals
You will also need:
* A current minimum P1 'C' class Queensland driver's license
* A currently registered, roadworthy, and fully comprehensive vehicle
* A current nationally recognized First Aid and CPR certificates (or the ability to obtain)
* A Positive Notice Working with Children (blue card) (or the ability to obtain)
* NDIS Worker Screening Clearance (or the ability to obtain)
* NDIS Worker Orientation Module 'Quality, Safety & You'
About the offer & benefits
The Lifestyle Support Worker Mentor position offers flexibility to be either permanent part-time or casual, based in Townsville, with travel required to Palm Island.
