We have been retained exclusively to represent a leading multi-disciplinary construction company with extensive experience across major projects in both the private and government sectors.
Recently identified in the top 15 in 2024 Australian Defence Magazine Top 40 Defence Contractors list, this principal contractor has secured multiple defence projects up to $700M+ providing a period of ongoing project opportunities that will see them project active for a considerable period.
About the Role
We seek a competent and proven Project Manager who can demonstrate capability across varied building disciplines, ideally within government and defence sector delivery environment.
To date, our client's success has incorporated design and construct delivery models such as "Managing Contractor" engagements and we are seeking candidates who have comparable experience.
The focus will see you responsible for the successful completion of the project technical requirements and within budget, time, WHS and quality requirements, including appropriate site supervision, administration and reporting.
With a focus on managing critical project packages across major defence base upgrades, you will need to be able to demonstrate the following skillsets at a competent level, with a Tier 1 or 2 principal contractor to be considered.
Manage project operations in accordance with project directives and deliverables.Interact with the clients' representatives to interpret their needs and requirements and represent them in the field.In conjunction with the Site Manager, develop and monitor construction programs and liaise with the Construction Manager / Contracts Manager highlighting areas of progress or deficiency.Work with the Contracts Administrator in the preparation of Head Contract claims for variations, delays and other contractual claims for review and approval by the Contracts Manager and submit them to the Client's nominee in accordance with the requirements of the Contract.Ensure that all subcontractors claims are properly evaluated and responded to, and that all payments to subcontractors are made in accordance with the provisions of the Subcontract.Review the preparation of monthly forecasts on a cost code basis, including estimated cost to complete, make recommendations as required to the Construction Manager / Contracts Manager.Assist / Review the preparation and updating of monthly cash flow and liquidity information, present any risk or opportunity to the Construction Manager / Contracts Manager for assessment, mitigation or agreement of commercial strategy.To be successful in this role, you will need:
A degree qualified (Construction Management, Q.S, Civil Engineer or Diploma Qualified with experience across varied building packages).Min 5 years demonstrable experience in construction management with reputable local contractors working on construction projects ranging in value from $50M+.Be an Australian citizen and be eligible for defence security clearance.Advanced MS Office skills.Ability to work with multiple discipline projects.Project management and supervision skills.Decision-making ability and leadership skills.Time management and organization skills.Benefits
